Eduardo Costantini
Latin American Patron Award 2025
Eduardo F. Costantini is a renowned Argentine businessman and art collector, listed among Artnews’ Top 200 Collectors in 2024. He is the founder of the Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA) and MALBA Puertos. His passion for art began in the 1970s with the acquisition of his first pieces, and over time he developed a prominent private collection of Latin American art.
In 1998, Costantini spearheaded the creation of MALBA after acquiring a strategic plot of land in Buenos Aires and launching an international architecture competition, with the aim of transforming his collection into a public and socially significant cultural project. Inaugurated in 2001, MALBA became a dynamic space that showcases modern and contemporary art, promotes film, literature, and education, and preserves Latin American cultural heritage, establishing itself as a bridge between the public and artists.
His main goals are to educate the public and spark interest in Latin American creators; to contribute to the understanding of Latin America’s cultural output by promoting recognition of the region’s cultural and artistic diversity; and to share the responsibility for this effort with both the national and international community by encouraging artistic exchange among national, regional, and international institutions, and supporting innovative programs focused on the visual arts and Latin American culture.
