He is president of the Fundación Casa de México en España, inaugurated in the city of Madrid in October 2018, which seeks to contribute to the development of both countries and the strengthening of the bilateral relationship by promoting greater knowledge of Mexico in Spain on cultural, business, entrepreneurship, tourism, gastronomy and community development issues. This is all achieved by linking civil society, government and the private sector.

Fundación Casa de México en España has become a leading institution focused on promoting and highlighting the greatness of Mexico and strengthening its links with Spain, involving an average of more than a thousand activities per year. Almost five years after it opened and with more than 600 thousand visitors, Fundación Casa de México en España has taken a little slice of Mexico to Spain and has conveyed the love and gratitude its president, Valentín Diez Morodo, feels for both countries.

Other international decorations include the “Order of the Crown” awarded by His Majesty Albert II, King of Belgium; and the Commendations for “Civil Merit” and the “Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic”, awarded by His Majesty Juan Carlos I, King of Spain, as well as the “Silver Medal”, which he was awarded by the Government of the Principality of Asturias in September 2006. In 2008 he was awarded the “Master de Oro” of the Forum de Alta Dirección, whose Honorary President is His Majesty Juan Carlos I, King of Spain. In 2009, His Royal Highness Prince Philippe of Belgium presented him with the “L’Ordre de Leopold”, in the Rank of Commandeur, which was awarded by the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium. In 2014 he was awarded the “Sorolla Medal 2014” by the Hispanic Society of America for his career serving Hispanic culture and in 2016 he received the “Leonés del Año 2015” Award from Radio León-Cadena Ser, as well as the “Medalla de Oro de la Ciudad de León” by the City Council of Leon, Spain.
